video: My past Italy retreat

My retreat, “Expressive Watercolor and Self-Reflection” is much more than just learning to watercolor and sketch. During our time together, we will be focusing on watercolor fundamental skills, florals, and landscapes, as well as loose and expressive fruit and building sketches. But because my mental health career informs how I teach my students, we’ll be starting each class with a journal prompt. The intention is to reflect on the feelings that may come up in your art and help you work towards personal growth.

The retreat will be full of painting demos, instruction, and art feedback. But we will also embark on 3 excursions to help us find inspiration to sketch and paint later on in the studio. I’ll guide you through the process to help you bring your inspiration to life.

We will have access to the private estate with a heated swimming pool, gorgeous gardens, and just a short walk from the medieval French fortified town of Eymet. Embrace the fresh, clean air and mindfulness of being in the present moment, to help you find peace and rest. Enjoy the delicious French cuisine delicately prepared by a private chef, experiencing exquisite tastes and eating pleasures.

My teaching method embraces all student levels of experience. Whether you’re a beginner and need the simplified, step-by-step process or are more advanced and wanting to let go of perfectionism in your art, my expressive style of painting will help you find peace and joy.

It was an amazing week! Picture the most beautiful venue, the best food, the sweetest people taking care of the venue, a beautiful classroom to paint and the most supportive group of people you can imagine to paint with! So much fun to try different techniques, paint stuff around the venue and to do plein air sketching and painting. I went home with beautiful memories of our week in Italy, new friends from all over the world and more painting skills. It was the best!
